Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a
virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name
was Mary. And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
Previously, in this chapter, Luke talks about the priest Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth – both
faithful believers in God. Gabriel had appeared to Zacharias and had told him they would have a
child (even though both were advanced in age and Elizabeth had been barren). Because
Zacharias doubted this message on account of their age, Gabriel told him he would not be able
to speak until the baby was born. (it appears that not immediately believing in a message
brought by an angel of the Lord is NOT a good idea)! To Zacharias and Elizabeth, John (the
Baptist) was born. The fore runner, the one who would make straight the path of the Lord in
the spirit and power of Elijah the prophet – to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous. John was to have a powerful ministry!
My prayer today is that the Holy Spirit would cause a revival in the Church of the type of Elijah –
turning the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of
the righteous – to prepare and make straight the path for the second coming of our Lord Jesus.
May it happen soon and may the ones who will repent and believe in the Lord Jesus be as the
sand on the sea shore!
Have A Blessed Day!
